For me the most fascinating part is probably the distance between interstellar objects. A travel to Alpha Centauri, the nearest star to Sol, would take 66,800 years with the speed of Earth (12mi/s or 19.31km/s) on a direct path.

The things we see in the night sky happened millions of years in the past and are likely to not even exist anymore or to have become something quite different in the current state of universe.
