If you mean "we" as in humanity as a whole then it's because people don't want to acknowledge life is meaningless, they just want to do something to brag to their friends and some might even do what they do(study, get a job, work hard in order to realize their dreams) because they want to deny the fact that we all are going to die some day, they just want to be remembered "for ever" after they die, even though, deep down, they know that the forever won't last long.
