Post favorite paintings

My personal favorite is "Christ in the Desert" by Ivan Kramskoi, even though I'm not religious. It's strangely soothing.

To any anons who love art, I want to ask:

How do you get into it? I would love to explore all kinds of art and find artists I love but I guess besides buying a textbook, I don't know what to do. I was taking a Khan Academy course on art for a while, but like so many things in my life, I never finished…

First, know what types of mediums are there.

Second, explore them and find the artist name to the piece you like and search up their biography and work.

Third, find some books showing the works of these artist.

It's really simple, Anon.

Hurra hurra hurra,
Hurra Germania.

This was a painting done after the beginning of the First World War by Friedrich August von Kaulbach. It depicts Germania, the female embodiment of Germany (essentially the Deutschland-chan of 100 years ago) in a battle stance. The two-headed eagle, a long-time German icon, which was also the symbol of the Holy Roman Empire, is seen on the shield.

Ist echt schön, oder?

 No.302

>>301
Oops. The eagle on the shield doesn't actually have two heads. But still, it's called the Reichsadler and can be depicted with two heads.

 No.305

>>302
Austria and Russia featured double-headed eagles in their heraldry so they probably wanted to make Germany's eagle distinct from those two empires.
