Oh, I'm guessing it's the kind of dark humor **and overflowing creativity** you enjoy in those games. Definitely take a look at Catherine on the PS3/360 and Killer7 on the GC/PS2.

If you haven't played other Taro Yoko games, Drakengard 3 on PS3 is pretty good, it's a prequel so you can play it without playing the first. A step down from Nier in the writing (overall a little more restrained) but I've heard D1 is near-unplayable (though meant the story is meant take it further than Nier), everyone recommends watching an LP though I haven't gotten around to it. He didn't work on D2, you can ignore it.

And it's untranslated but take a look at Mizzurna Falls on the PS1. It's playable even without a script handy. Very Twin Peaks influenced like Deadly Premonition, though without the surreal horror or humor. Kind of obscure but there's a write up here:

I am beginning to think Japanese men high on Western movies are the best contemporary entertainers around. I lack the systems to play the games, but know some people that do and wouldn't mind if I crashed at their place with a 'gift'; either that or emulate.

If you haven't played through the singleplayer of the original Unreal Tournament (1999), that's always a great time. If playing an arena shooter against bots isn't your thing, check out Unreal Gold and the HD remaster of Serious Sam: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter respectively.
